U.S. DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE – Former Charity Executive Pleads Guilty to Bribery and Embezzlement Scheme

A former executive of a Springfield, Missouri charity, who was also an Arkansas lobbyist, pleaded guilty in federal court today to bribing Arkansas elected officials in a multi-million-dollar scheme, and then along with other charity executives, embezzling millions of dollars from the Springfield health care organization.

SOUTH CAROLINA – SC Secretary of State Announces Settlement Agreement with Professional Fundraiser

(COLUMBIA, SC) – South Carolina Secretary of State Mark Hammond announced today that his office had entered into a settlement agreement with professional solicitor Donor Services Group, LLC. As part of the settlement, Donor Services Group paid an administrative fine of $5,000.00, and any future violations of the agreement would result in fines of up to $2,000.00 for each separate violation.

New York – Acting A.G. Underwood Announces Settlement With Self-Dealing Trustee Of A Private Foundation

Acting Attorney General Barbara Underwood today announced a settlement resolving an investigation into the Richenthal Foundation, a grant-making organization that focuses on funding not-for-profit theater groups. As a result of the settlement, David Richenthal’s restitution will total $550,000 and he is barred from access to the Foundation’s funds and having any fiduciary role in New York not-for-profits. The Foundation has also agreed to implement internal controls, expand its board to ensure greater oversight, and implement a training program for trustees. Continue reading “New York – Acting A.G. New York Attorney General files suit against McEnerney, Brady & Company LLC

As part of its Operation Bottomfeeder, New York Attorney General’s Charities Bureau filed suit in New York Supreme Court on Monday May 10, 2018 against McEnerney, Brady & Company LLC (MBC) and founding partner Edmond Brady, the auditors for the Breast Cancer Survivors Foundation (“BCSF”).
